How do you get through Carnival Night Zone Act 2 in Sonic

sonic the hedgehog 3 carnival night zone act 2 barrel - win

Best and Worst Stage of Each Game (with explanations)

Sonic The Hedgehog (1991)
Best: Green Hill Zone - Everyone remembers their first trip through Green Hill Zone. Blindingly fast, quick reaction time and skill rewarded with rings and speed. The reason it's been revamped so many times is that it's timeless, unlike all the other levels in the first outing.
Worst: Marble Zone - I was split between this and Labyrinth, but this is a level that literally never lets you go fast. Ever. At least Labyrinth gave us a unique gimmick in the water level.
Sonic 2
Best: Chemical Plant - Read the Green Hill one again
Worst: Metropolis Zone - An unnecessary third act, annoying gimmicks, and possibly the worst enemy placement in all of platforming. Need I say more?
Sonic CD
Best: Stardust Speedway - Great music, interesting level design, and a unique (albeit not perfect) boss battle with Metal Sonic. And an excellent Mania rep
Worst: Wacky Workbench - Must I say more?
Sonic 3
Best: Hydrocity Zone - I think everyone can agree that this may be the only fun water level in the whole series.
Worst: - Carnival Night Zone - Worst level music of possibly any classic game. (I'm looking at you, Adabat). Also barrels.
Sonic and Knuckles
Best: Flying Battery Zone - As much as I love Sky Sanctuary, it feels like filler, so I have to go with this one. Great level concept, two acts of excellent music that never gets stale, and cool elemental gimmicks made cooler in Mania
Worst: Sandopolis - Where do I start. Laughably easy first act with the worst mid-boss ever conceived as well as one of the most ruthless and confusing second acts. The end boss is almost as bad as the former.
Sonic 3D Blast
Best: Rusty Ruin - I didn't really get too deep into this game, but I liked the music.
Worst: Puppet Panic - Never played it but this is what I've heard
Sonic Adventure:
Best: Emerald Coast - Yeah, Speed Highway is pretty cool, but everyone who's played Adventure remembers that big whale chasing you and smashing up the docks. An intro to 3D Sonic that we didn't deserve, and quite frankly didn't really get in the long run anyway.
Worst: Casinopolis - It was just annoying. Real unpleasant.
Sonic Adventure 2
Best: Metal Harbor- Okay I know this might be an unpopular opinion, but City Escape just doesn't do it for me. It's a fun level, and a hell of a rush, but I like the free open style of Metal Harbor better than the closed-off city streets. Short and sweet. Plus it feels great getting the top half of the rocket.
Worst: Mad Space - The treasure hunting stages were no blessing, but this is the most unpleasant one. A terrible camera, those goddamn asteroids that just ruin your gravity. And the fact that it's so boring. The background is just stars.
Sonic Heroes
Best: Seaside Hill - It's a bit annoying with the vocal cues, but the whole game is like that, so it's not really worth mentioning. A great Generations rep, interesting level concept and epic music do it for me.
Worst: Hang Castle/Mystic Mansion - Gravity puzzles. I played a Sonic game to go fast not to play Mario Galaxy.
Shadow The Hedgehog
Best: I Am... All of Me - Good song. Crush 40 really knocked it out of the park.
Worst: The rest of the game. Lmao. Honestly, it's probably not that bad a game and I'm sure the game is fun but I have no intention of playing it
Sonic The Hedgehog (2006)
Best: Kingdom Valley - Grand scale musical arrangement, awesome level concept, gimmicks that actually work (water slide, eagle), and the most tolerable mach-speed stage. Also, they found a way for Shadow to have a justified reason for being in a vehicle, and throw in a nice call back to the Adventure 2 Treasure hunting stages.
Worst: Silver (boss) - I was gonna put End of the World here, because of how broken it is (and the unnecessary and experience-ruining eyeballs), but can we talk about how intolerable the boss battle against Silver is? It took 10-year-old me months to beat it, because he just grabs you, but once you know what to do it's one of the easiest spots in the whole game. Makes you feel bad inside.
Sonic Unleashed
Best: Windmill Isle - I think Rooftop Run was better honestly, but Generations polished it to a point where I can't include it twice. Windmill Isle was the first Sonic level I ever played, I was eight and they had it at the dentist's office.
Worst: Eggmanland - The concept is cool, and the idea of being both in one level is exciting, but please cap your level times at ten minutes PLEASE. Not everyone has the time or the patience to play a half-hour of broken camera Werehog platforming. The music doesn't help.
Sonic Colors
Best: Aquarium Park - Personal preference, and not a common choice, but the piano music and level placement almost match that of Hydrocity. Fun water levels are rare, and we've got one right here.
Worst: Sweet Mountain - If I ever hear those trumpets again it would be too soon. Jesus, I can't stand the level design or anything, like I don't want to play a goddamn game of Candy Land I get that this game was marketed at kids but c'mon.
Sonic Generations
Best: Rooftop Run Act 2 - I think people would be upset if I put Collections Room, so I'm going to instead put my favorite 3D level in any game ever. Upbeat violin music that rivals the original (no easy task), blistering speed, and all the little details that we love without the little gimmicks we don't. I will continue to have so much fun replaying these 2 and a half minutes of pure joy.
Worst: Shadow (Rival Battle) - Everything in this game was done remarkably well, but if I had to pick one thing it would be the battle with Shadow. It's a little bit troubling for people who don't know what to do and relies too heavily on boost mechanics, with Shadow's small hitbox tough to land shots on.
(I didn't play any of the Boom games or Lost World, didn't have a Wii U)
Sonic Mania (Original Stages Only)
Best: Press Garden Zone - As cool as I thought the Studiopolis demo was, Act 1's nonlinear nature makes for confusing gameplay and Time Attack where only Tails wins. Press Garden has excellent stage music (I mean, all of them do in this game), and even though it may have had an underwhelming mid-boss, we can forgive it. Who can hate a frozen Sonic sprite?
Worst: Mirage Saloon - The fact that I liked this one the least is a testament to how truly great this game is. Act 2 is one of my favorite Classic Sonic levels ever, with my favorite gimmicks of any game. Act 1 however, is the call back no one asked for.
Sonic Forces
Best: Sunset Heights - What it lacks in level design it makes up in concepts, vibrant presentation, and an epic song that sounds like a post-punk 2000's song about a bad breakup. The tone has never been captured as well as this in these games.
Worst: Iron Fortress - Classic gameplay in Modern games definitely took a step backward in Forces, but this is the pinnacle of bad 2d gameplay. Floaty mechanic, boring level design, a SIDESCROLLING Sonic Level. Atrocious
If you liked my list or you think I'm dead wrong, let me know.

MAME 0.206

MAME 0.206

Welcome to 2019 – we’re starting the year with a bang! MAME 0.206 is an absolutely huge update when it comes to new dumps and newly working software, especially when it comes to TV games. As far as we know, MAME is the first V.Smile emulator with working controls and the most compatible, with almost all dumped titles fully playable for one player (the second joystick isn’t working yet). A number of JAKKS Pacific games based on similar technology are also working in this release. And from Japan, you can now play the Popira and Dance Dance Revolution Family Mat rhythm games, as well as Super Dash Ball. The Namco Nostalgia and Taito Nostalgia games are now playable, too. Game & Watch coverage is steadily expanding, with Black Jack, Lifeboat, Manhole (new wide screen), and Rain Shower added in this release. Black Jack is particularly notable as it hasn’t seen re-issue or emulation before now.
On the arcade side, San Francisco Rush 2049 and its Special Edition have been promoted to working, and we’ve added alternate versions and bootlegs of several supported games. Heihachi_73 has tested the Aristocrat Mk V slot machines, and dozens have been promoted to working. If you enjoy spinning the wheels, why not give some a try?
If you’re aware of the effort to preserve original Apple II software in the new low-level WOZ disk image format, it should come as no surprise that MAME is on board. We’ve started documenting these dumps in a software list, and we’ll continue to add dumps as they become available. If you’re a fan of Acorn computers, you might want to try some of the newly supported BBC Micro ROM slot expansions, including banked ROM devices, RAM expansions, and real-time clocks. A few additional Electron expansion devices have been added, too.
Of course, these are just selected highlights, and there are plenty more bug fixes and emulation improvements in this release. There are also some incremental improvements to MAME’s system and software selection menus. You can get the source and Windows binary packages from the download page.

r/gaming, I require your assistance in a problem involving Sonic 3.

I recently bought Sonic the Hedgehog 3 on the Wii's Virtual Console, and I've been addicted to it. It's an AWESOME game. However, last night, I got to the "Carnival Night" zone, and made it to act 2. There is this one part, a little later in the act, with this ridiculously annoying spinning barrel. Now, there a couple of these in this zone, but none as annoying as this. I have died twice trying to figure out what to do at this part due to my time running out. I don't know if any of you guys have encountered a similar problem while playing this game, but if you have and have gotten past it, please help.
